The Bryce Mink Memorial Scholarship Fund

Our family has suffered an inconceivable loss.  Bryce Marion Mink, went into cardiac arrest on Friday, March 10, 2023 at his home in Pine River. His mother performed CPR until the EMTs arrived. He was airlifted to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis where his parents, Wes and Gloria, learned he had Lymphoma and that there was a large mass in his chest. The mass was restricting his airway and impeded the CPR, as a result, his brain suffered from the lack of oxygen. On Sunday the 12th of March, 2023, surrounded by family - Wes, Gloria, Julia and Connor said goodbye to their son and brother.

In memory of Bryce Marion Mink, his family and friends have established a scholarship fund in his name to help fund Pine River- Backus students.  The young man for whom this scholarship is named was a loving son, brother, grandson, and friend. The hope in this scholarship is to allow his legacy to live on by giving other Pine River – Backus students the opportunity to succeed in their schooling and their development into adulthood.

Bryce’s intelligence and clever personality were his strongest traits. He was an Academic Star and sought to be on the honor roll every quarter. With his intelligence came some of the most witty and clever comments, bringing laughter and joy to his entire family. He was a happy boy, and his smile could brighten anyone’s day.

Bryce was a member of the Kind Kid’s Club and earned his place there. He was always the first to befriend a new student or help newcomers to Virtual Reality learn the ropes of Gorilla Tag, which is a game that he was a master of (if you know you know). Bryce was also a member of 4-H and helped with many service projects. He loved animals and showed care and kindness to all of them. He especially loved penguins, as you can see by the name of his YouTube channel: PenguinVR.

Another love that Bryce shared with his family was the love of travel. Bryce’s life may have been cut short, but he has seen and experienced so much. He loved to climb rocks everywhere he went. West Coast, East Coast, Canada, Mexico, Dominican, it didn’t matter, if there were rocks to climb, he was above us.

He lived his short life to the fullest and took in every moment.

Bryce would want to support his fellow PRB students.

This scholarship seeks to honor Bryce by supporting students who demonstrate his passion for life and

the kindness he showed.

The fund has been started with Bryce's own personal savings from birthday gifts, 4-H project premiums, and what he received for good grades.  Bryce's savings in the amount of $1,148 started this scholarship fund.

WHY THE NAME
BRYCE'S GOAT ARMY?

Bryce came up with the name!

While running around with his cousin's goats, one little doe liked

to follow Bryce.

Bryce said, "Oh my, why are you only following me?", then shouted,

"My goat army, attack!"

I guess that's what a clever eleven year old boy comes up with.  After Bryce's passing we were looking through videos and came across this one.  We knew instantly what to name his goat herd.
